We have been very busy the past few weeks turning our office into a nursery. I think it's been a much more involved process than we had envisioned. Our computer still does not have a permanent home but it's currently in the guest bedroom in the basement until we find a desk and more permanent place for it. So, in the meantime, our house is in a bit of disarray.
The nursery project I have definitely had the most fun with so far is making the crib bedding. I decided to take on this task for a couple of reason...Not only do I love Amy Butler fabric, but I have a hard time finding typical "baby" themed things that suite my taste. So, the only way to satisfy this was to make the darn thing myself! It was quite a cumbersome project but I truly enjoyed it and sometimes look at the finished product and can't believe I actually sewed it!
I got my pattern from www.makeroomforbabykit.com and went from there. Her pattern is not very self explanatory, especially if one has never worked with zippers or ties before. So, if you decide to tackle this project yourself let me offer you the pointers I learned along the way before you get started!
I have my wonderful husband to give credit for doing such an awesome job painting the nursery. I absolutely love how the color turned out and pulls the warm tones from the bedding.
We are still on the search for a dresser. So, if you know of anyone looking to get rid of one that could double as our changing table please let me know.
In addition, I have a couple other nursery projects in the works that I can't wait to finish and blog about!
